Terence Burke is an Account Director at Denterlein Public Affairs
and brings to his position experience in broadcast journalism,
government, and political campaigns.
Mr. Burke specializes in developing communications strategies
for clients with governmental and political issues. He has written
and placed op-eds and secured news coverage in print and broadcast
media that has effectively inserted his clients' voices into
the public dialogue on critical issues such as transportation,
economic development, and health care reform.
Bringing his broadcast journalism experience to his client
service, Mr. Burke works with his clients to create strong visual
elements associated with their issues that will appeal to television
reporters and producers, as well as training them to interact
with the broadcast media. He also contributes his knowledge
of broadcast news to the Denterlein Public Affairs crisis communications
team.
Mr. Burke writes and produces video projects for a range of
clients that are integrated into websites and strategic social
media campaigns.
Mr. Burke draws on more than a decade of experience in broadcast
journalism working at WGBH. He was an associate producer on
WGBH's Emmy-award winning public affairs and news program, Greater
Boston with Emily Rooney and produced Beat the Press,
a weekly broadcast covering local and national media. Beat the
Press was awarded the National Press Club's Arthur Rowse award
for Press Criticism in 2005, 2004 and 2001 and twice won the
Associated Press News/Talk award. Mr. Burke also produced segments
on Massachusetts and national politics including live broadcasts
from the New Hampshire primaries and the Democratic and Republican
National Conventions. Before Greater Boston, Mr. Burke
worked as a production assistant on the PBS series Frontline
and NOVA.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Burke served for two years as Special Assistant
for Communications in the office of former Attorney General
Tom Reilly. During his tenure at the AG's office, Mr. Burke
served as a liaison to the press on government agency issues,
municipal law, same-sex marriage, consumer protection, and utilities,
as well as coordinating press events with municipal officials.
Mr. Burke was also a speech writer for the attorney general
and served as press advance. He was active in Tom Reilly's gubernatorial
campaign as a volunteer in the communications department and
advance team.
