As founder of Denterlein Worldwide Public Affairs, Geri Denterlein
leads a growing company that specializes in strategic communications
and is known for its successful public policy campaigns, crisis
communications work and healthcare consulting. Drawing on more
than 25 years of experience in media, government and business,
Denterlein provides executive level communications and public
relations counsel to businesses, nonprofits, colleges and healthcare
organizations. Guided by the belief that communications services
must be aligned with the business plan, Denterlein brings a
corporate expertise to each assignment.
Well known and highly respected in the industry, Denterlein
Worldwide has advised some of the most recognizable names in
the region, including Century Bank, Children's Hospital, Massachusetts
Bankers Association, and Mandarin Oriental, Boston.
Prior to serving as a consultant, Denterlein was editorial
director at WBZ television, where she was responsible for the
station's government outreach, as well as on-air political analysis.
Geri also has governmental experience including terms as communication
director for the Departments of Mental Health and Retardation
and as an associate press secretary to former Gov. Michael S.
Dukakis.
Denterlein serves on numerous civic and nonprofit boards including,
MassINC, A Better City and Downtown Crossing Association. She
is a trustee of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation and Chair
of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Massachusetts
Bay. In January 2010, she was elected Chair of the Metro Managers
Chairman's group, comprised of the 45 largest Red Cross Chapters
in the country. Denterlein has been honored by the Boston Chamber
of Commerce with the Pinnacle Award for Achievement in Management,
by Bentley College with the Workplace Innovations Award, named
among the Top 10 Public Relations Professionals by Women's Business,
and in the category of Entrepreneur she was inducted into the
2008 Women's Business Hall of Fame.
Denterlein is a popular commentator, with recent appearances
on WBZ, WCVB, NECN, and Fox News. Denterlein has also been a
featured speaker at the Massachusetts Women's Conference, the
Women's Leadership Summit of Southern New Hampshire, the Boston
Chamber of Commerce, Cape Business Connect, the Boston Women's
Bar Association, and many local professional organizations and
universities. Denterlein's work has appeared in INC Magazine,
the Boston globe and numerous other publications. In addition,
she is the author of the guide book, The Power Chicks' Guide
to Boston: In their own words.
Denterlein holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University
of Cincinnati and a Master of Public Administration from the
Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
